Veganuary with dieci

05.01.2022

This year, dieci will once again be supporting the Veganuary movement. Trying out a plant-based diet for a whole month is easy to do with dieci, as we serve vegan pizzas and other delicious Italian delicacies throughout the year.

Veganuary is more popular than ever, and it encourages people across the globe to eat only plant-based food for a whole month. The initiative was started nine years ago by a UK non-profit organisation. In 2021, around 7,000 people registered online for Veganuary, and it is estimated that around 70,000 people actually participate.

Changing habits

The Veganuary movement aims to encourage consumers to question their eating habits and really think about what it means to be vegan and eat vegan food. Participants are motivated to try plant-based alternatives to different animal products and to get creative – a plant-based diet doesn’t mean less delicious food!

dieci does vegan

Fans of dieci can still order their favourite food in Veganuary, as we have plenty of vegan options. Our pizzas have been available with the vegan cheese alternative from Simply V for almost two years. In addition to six vegan pizzas, the selection of plant-based dishes at dieci includes salads, pasta dishes and delicious sorbets for dessert. If you can’t decide, you can also put together your own pizza with plant-based ingredients.

Our tip for those trying a dieci vegan pizza for the first time this Veganuary is to order one of our most popular vegan pizzas like Pizza Giardino, Pizza Ortolana or Pizza Porcini. Order now and enjoy!

Yolanda Cruzsuarez is an expert when it comes to vegan cuisine. Via her Instagram food guide vegansofzuri she shares vegan recipes and restaurant and product recommendations. We spoke to her about what’s making vegan food so trendy, why Veganuary is a good thing and, of course, what makes the perfect vegan pizza.

People have a lot of different reasons for going vegan. What do you think is the main motivation right now for people to switch to eating vegan?

The main reason for going vegan seems to have shifted from ethics and animal rights to more environmental reasons. The general level of environmental awareness has increased dramatically, so veganism is also becoming more popular.

Plant-based nutrition is really on-trend. How does the increased demand for vegan products affect people who live a vegan lifestyle?

Being vegan is much easier than it was a few years ago. In urban areas, most restaurants offer vegan alternatives, and the range of products in supermarkets is really big. It’s the increase in demand that is responsible for these developments. A lot of people who don’t necessarily live a vegan lifestyle are also choosing to buy plant-based products more often.

What do you think about Veganuary?

Veganuary is a fantastic idea. I think it really motivates people who are interested in veganism to try eating a plant-based diet for a whole month. Participants also receive plenty of tips and amazing recipes to help them discover new plant-based ingredients. It’s kind of like a 30-day trial for veganism.

What makes the perfect vegan pizza?

The most important thing is that it shouldn’t taste any different from a normal pizza. Vegan or not, a pizza isn’t a pizza without cheese. I’m always disappointed when vegan pizza recipes just leave the cheese out instead of using a vegan alternative. That’s why I love dieci’s Pizza Porcini. The Simply V cheese alternative melts perfectly, and it’s even stringy! What more could you want?
