February is not just about love; it’s also about pizza! This month, we’re sharing some fascinating facts and taking a look at the history of this iconic dish. But don’t worry, we’ll also give you plenty of reasons to fall in love with our pizza!

 

Did the farmers of the 18th century, who first topped flatbread with tomatoes, realize they were creating the world’s favorite food? Probably not. Was the first real pizza actually born in Naples? We can’t say for sure – but as an Italian pizza courier, we have no doubt. 😉 After all, what was once just a way to satisfy hunger in Naples has become a true cultural treasure.

 

Why we never get tired of pizza

What makes pizza so irresistible? When it comes to food, we love sophistication – in both taste and texture. Melted mozzarella, flavorful pelati tomatoes for the perfect sauce, and hearty toppings like artichokes or prosciutto create the ideal balance. Pizza is more than just a dish – it’s our comfort food, a statement, and an expression of pure joy.

Pizza for every occasion

We enjoy it elegantly at a set table with a knife and fork or straight from the box on the go. There are no rules for the perfect pizza experience. Maybe that’s exactly what we love about it. One bite, and we’re happy. Even the name is simple: “pizza” comes from the Lombardic word “pizzo” or “bizzo” – meaning nothing more than “bite.”

 

Pizza rockets into space

So you don’t have to wait long to bite into a delicious dieci pizza, we now deliver almost anywhere in Switzerland. The only place our couriers can’t reach (yet) is space. But even that has been done before: In 2001, a pizza was sent to the International Space Station via supply rocket. However, NASA apparently couldn’t match our fast delivery times and eventually invented the first edible 3D-printed pizza for astronauts.

Printing a pizza instead of letting it crisp up in the oven? Don’t worry – at dieci, everything remains real. We continue to prepare our pizzas traditionally, but not without creativity. Classics like Pizza Margherita, as well as controversial variations like Pizza Hawaii (which, by the way, wasn’t invented on Pacific islands but in Canada), have their loyal fans with us.
