No leftovers with dieci
At dieci, we aim for Zero Food Waste. What measures are we taking to achieve this?
Granny was always happy when we ate everything on our plates. “It makes the sun shine the next day,” as the old saying goes. In fact, a third less food waste would do a great deal for climate protection. Zero food waste is the goal at dieci. No problem. If you love food as much as we do, waste is reduced almost automatically.
Waste starts with shopping
Everyone knows: if you shop when you are hungry, half of what you buy is not used. On the other hand, the buyers at our 42 dieci branches have a simple system: the first-in-first-out (FIFO) approach ensures that the first products that go into the warehouse or refrigerated section are the first to be used.
Freshly delivered and freshly processed
By storing products correctly, we also extend their lifespan. Shelf life and storage temperatures are monitored daily in the dieci branches. We tailor orders from local suppliers and our logistics partner dieci natura according to consumption. Our credo: it is better to have fresh food delivered several times a week rather than all at once.
Creative use of ingredients
You are used to your dieci pizza being full of toppings. For us this means: having all ingredients to hand at all times. It requires careful planning. We make many products fresh in our branches every day, such as our tomato sauce. If something is not used, the leftovers are deployed creatively for the whole team.
Pack once, enjoy twice
By the way, you also help us reduce food waste. Your feedback on orders or quality is continuously fed into our improvement processes. The more we know, the more we can do. This is why all dieci employees are trained in the sustainable handling of food. It also means that we offer them the opportunity to take home leftover food for their own use.
Of all the measures to avoid food waste, one thing in particular helps: our love of quality and good food. At dieci we are convinced: anyone who buys and processes food with passion will continue to have empty plates more often in the future.
And by the way: a dieci pizza is still absolutely “delizioso” the next day. Put the leftovers in the fridge and then heat them up in the oven or frying pan. Fantastico!
